Sykesville Fire Department Update

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

After the roof collapse and subsequent fire that ravished the Sykesville Fire Department on the morning of February 11th, members of the Teltek team were on site within days to assess the damage and provide services and support. Teltek provided and installed all new voice and data cabling as well as a Bogen Paging System so that staff and volunteers could be reached during the clean-up and re-building process. Additionally, Teltek donated a temporary Avaya phone system so that the firehouse could resume its business effectively. After nearly 35 hours of Teltek’s Technician’s time service was able to be restored to temporary tents and trailers so that the firefighters and EMS personnel could continue to support the community. With a concerted effort from members of the firehouse, volunteers, and the Teltek team, the Sykesville Fire Department was fully operational within the next business day.

Teltek wants to extend a special thank you to everyone who has contributed donations and volunteered at the firehouse!

Hands Free; It’s the Way to Be!

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

It may seem like a non-essential accessory, but the right headset will help support users with day to day functionality, making them more effective and efficient while at work, on the road, or at home.  An accessory so simple allows you to connect to other team members, provides hands-free communication, and enables clearer calls.

If you are looking for a way to create a more productive atmosphere for employees or yourself, a wireless headset can do exactly that. With wireless headsets that are available for Avaya Partner, Avaya IP Office, older AT&T/Lucent systems, and most NEC phone systems you can free your hands from the phone and move about your office to work on other tasks.  Whether you are on a conference call, on the phone with a client, or on a call with a fellow employee, both hands can be freed up to type, take notes, or even make a pot of coffee without placing any unnecessary strain on your neck. Most model headsets that Teltek sells offer a reception range of between 200-300 feet, so you will never have to be tied down to our desk again.  With up to eight hours of talk time on one charge, you can talk the entire day without having to worry about recharging the battery. Most models come with multiple ear pieces, so you are sure to find a comfortable position on your head or ear to wear these lightweight wireless devices.

Music and Advertising on Hold

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Music and Advertising On- Hold – a low cost way to promote your business and captivate an audience.

Prolonged hold times can damage a relationship you have worked hard to build with  current and prospective customers, leaving them feeling unimportant or forgotten.   More than ever, businesses are tasked with having to handle more calls with less staff, so it is inevitable you will need to put even your most important customers on-hold.

Smart business owners view this “on-hold time” as a way to captivate their audience and promote their company. Teltek recommends that  clients use this “potential marketing opportunity” to feature  products, services, biographies about their staff and any other pertinent information about their business.  It is important not to  overlook the chance to promote your  business and engage your customers with a custom on-hold message.  Contact  Teltek today for your personalized Message On Hold!

IP Office Release 6

Monday, February 1st, 2010

On Tuesday, January 26th, I completed  a webinar with Avaya on the new IP Office Release 6.  I wanted to take the opportunity to inform consumers that  there are going to be some big changes, both on the software and hardware in this new release.  So what is new in the Avaya IP Office Release 6?  Some of the new features available in the Avaya IP Office Release 6 are an under 20 price point which means it targets companies with under 20 employees, richer features and a new User Solution that was not previously available on the Release 5.

The under 20 price point is geared towards What Avaya Calls the VSB Market (Very Small Business) with a 90% price reduction for the Avaya IP Office Essential Edition. This price reduction will bring the list price down from $795.00 to only $50.00. Other Avaya IP Office Release 6 enhancements include: (more…)
