Customer Praise

Friday, March 19th, 2010

“Chris, I just wanted you to know what a great employee Mark Baugher is. He always performs maintenance and updates to the system in a timely manner. He provides patient in dept explanation to all questions I request. Too many times in this industry do we only remind our business partners of all the wrong they do. I just wanted you to know he consistently goes above and beyond on the job and my customers recognize it. Mark is the reason I am very comfortable with referring Teltek to all my customers. Keep up the great work guys! I’ll contact Christy in June to schedule our next visit.”

Respectfully, Joe Travaglione, IT Support Maryland Disability Law Center

Staticky Conference Calls Disrupting your Business?

Monday, March 15th, 2010

One of Teltek’s long-standing customers recently emailed me the following question and I thought it was a good one to share with our blog readers:

“Hi Chris, I think we need to talk about getting a conference-style phone as we still have speaker quality issues. I remember we briefly talked about this in the past, but can you please remind me what options are available and what the cost would be?”

Leasing Versus Buying

Friday, March 12th, 2010

How to evaluate funding options for technology purchases – using the Avaya IP Office phone system as an example.

This subject is a very important one to consider when making a telecommunications purchase. Leasing versus buying is usually a pertinent topic that arises in our consultation process while discussing life expectancy and maintenance options. It is also one that we find most other telecommunication Value Added Resellers (VARS) do not discuss in their presentations. While some may view disclosing products short technology life expectancy counterproductive to a standard sales pitch we believe it is important to educate our clients so they can make the most informed decision about their investment.

Tech Talk for Dummies

An  introduction  to  the  language  of  telecom.

Hello from Teltek’s newest employee! I’m excited to be part of such an innovative and customer service-oriented company.  To be honest though, I’m somewhat intimidated by the technology terms casually thrown about on a daily basis. Technology is vital, always evolving and difficult to keep up with. Stewart Brand, creator and publisher of The Whole Earth Catalog was quoted as saying “Once a new technology rolls over you, if you’re not part of the steamroller, you’re part of the road.” This saying is so true.

To me, T1 signifies the first of the Terminator movies, but it can also define a telecommunication standard for carrying multiple voice and data transmissions between a network and a user. My thoughtful teammates here at Teltek provided me with a glossary of some of the most commonly used terms in telecommunications and I’d like to share this with anyone else out there who hears static when some of this terminology is used in conversation. Take a look and let me know if you find this as helpful as I did!

Migrate to an IP Office

Friday, March 5th, 2010

With the new Avaya IP Office release 6 on its way, this will be a great time to consider migrating to the Avaya IP Office telephone system from your Avaya Partner ACS system. With the new Avaya IP Office release 6 offering an ETR card (a card that allows you to use Partner ACS equipment); you can re use your current Avaya Partner ACS telephones on the new system eliminating some of the big cost in buying all new phones. It is a great solution at a low cost.

So, what are some of the features you will be able to have configured on the Avaya IP Office release 6 system that you don’t currently have on your Avaya Partner ACS system? (more…)
