Below you will find Avaya’s projected roadmap for IP Office R-6.1 software as well as the integration of Nortel phones into the IP Office platform. At this point, the information has not been confirmed, but we think it is a nice guideline of what is to come.
IP Office Release 6.1 (February 2011 target)
- Simplified IP Office Installation (1 DVD install of Linux with VM Pro and OneX Portal) does not require Windows, will be Linux instead
- Enhanced SIP trunking (using templates from legacy Nortel)
- Enhancements where you can manage multi sites from a single point
- 1100 and 1200 IP SIP phones
- Interoperability between Nortel BCM and Avaya IP Office
- Changes to OneX portal to emulate iGoogle (customizable interface)
Phase 1 (November 2010 target) -Initial Nortel Integration
- Auto discovery
- Busy lamp pick up
Phase 2 (February 2011) – Mid level conversion (some features will work, but not all)
Nortel Products will be rebranded, VPN clients for remote phones, new soft phone product, Windows 7 will be supported, improved mobility options (emulating Mobile Twinning and OneX portal mobility offerings from Avaya IP Office.
- T7000 and M7000 digital sets from Nortel BCM will work on IP Office
- Digital wireless phones will be supported
- Digital Mobile phones
- Possibly having expansion module that will support an Amphenol connector (cleaner cable management)
- IP office on Linux is focused on sub 20 user office space.
- Interoperability: IP Office will integrate to Nortel BCM’s (full integration is not anticipated but basic call transferring, etc. will be)
- IP office chasse will have improved wall mount option (supports CPU + 1 expansion module flat)
Phase 3 (2nd half of 2011) – Enhancements (full integration is anticipated)
- Busy line appearances
- Door phones and conference phones
- BCM to IP office data transfer (i.e. recordings, users, etc. can be migrated) save time
Legacy Nortel Phones suspected of migrating to Avaya IP Office:
- BCN IP Desk Phones: 1220, 1230, 1120E, 1140E, LCD/LED KEMs for 12xx, and the KEM for 11xx
- BCM/Norstar Digital Phones: T7000 and M7000, audio conference unit (digital) and door phone
- BCM/Norstar Digital Mobile Phones: 7420, 7430, 7439, 7434, 4135, 4136, T7406E, TZ 406, DMC, and the AP.
