When I was a kid, snow days were mini celebrations to break up the bleakness of winter. It was the occasional unexpected treat to learn that school was closed for the day due to snow or ice. For the house, have a sturdy snow shovel, a broom, ice melt and cocoa. Your car should be equipped with an ice scraper and a snow brush. It’s also smart to keep a shovel, boots and blanket in your car, in case you get stuck somewhere.
