In order to ease the pain of purchasing a new phone system, Avaya is running a new promotion called Avaya Trade in PLUS. If a customer purchases an Avaya IP Office phone system and returns the legacy equipment and phones to Avaya, they will receive a bonus rebate of up to $6,000.00! The full rebate amount is the standard Trade-in Trade-up value plus the Trade in PLUS promotion bonus.

The promotion started February 15, 2012 and will run until June 29, 2012. All equipment and phones must be received at Avaya by September 30, 2012 and the check will be issued within 60 days after the equipment and phones are received.

At Teltek, we often communicate with images to save time or make a co-worker laugh. When Dave Fedorko, one of our technicians, gets caught in bad traffic on his way to a service call, he’ll take a photo of the gridlock, like the one below, and email it to us from his phone.

Some of the more useful photos our technicians take are of the phone closets and cabling they encounter at job sites. These images are saved on the server in that customer’s folder for future reference if needed. Another great reason for a photo op is when our techs come across something they can’t quite explain, like the phone with the keypad numbers out of order:

The best visual aid we have here at Teltek is the “Identify Your Phone“ page located in the Resources section of our website. This was a fantastic idea Chris Nicoli had that was implemented and has proven to be an invaluable tool.

If a new customer calls in for assistance with their phone, we need to know which model they are referencing so we can give them the right answer for that specific phone. If the customer does not know the details, we direct them to this page, where they can scroll through photos until they can figure out if it’s an AT&T Merlin Legend, Avaya Partner  or an Avaya IP Office phone system.

The primary purpose of Teltek’s website is to post information that is helpful to our customers. This site highlights our capabilities, introduces you to all members of team Teltek, provides information on the products available and our blog is updated almost daily in an effort to keep you in the know on what’s going on at Teltek and within the industry.

This is the keypad of an Avaya Partner 18D phone, that was shipped to one of our customers directly from one of Teltek’s distributors. When our customer called to report this oddity, I thought it was a joke, but here’s the photo to prove it. As soon as I received this image, I forwarded it to my other Teltek team members and we all got a good laugh out of it. Telecom humor is not something you come across every day, so when it happens, we make a point to enjoy the moment!

You have to wonder how something like this happens. What do you think the Quality Control person was doing instead of paying attention to the task at hand? Napping? Texting? Battling dyslexia? This type of blunder is easy to laugh at; it’s something you don’t see every day and no real damage occurred. Not all flubs are funny, but I like to share the mistakes I make that are humorous. Laughing at mistakes will help you feel better about the situation and could take the pressure off a family member, friend or co-worker who may have had a similar experience. While laughter can be the best medicine, it’s also a good idea to apologize and work to prevent future blunders from happening. Errors should be viewed as opportunities to learn and grow.

Mel Brooks provided the following quote, “As long as the world is turning and spinning, we’re gonna be dizzy and we’re gonna make mistakes.” Why not turn your faux pas into a faux ha? You’ll be respected and admired for not taking life too seriously.

Baltimore CASH Campaign had an Avaya IP Office phone system so the Teltek team was able to program the system and work with service providers to initiate a rapidly deployed call center in their Baltimore office for a short interum basis: calls were distributed to different hunt groups during the day for better access, overflow calls went into a voicemail that was regularly checked, and after hour callers were prompted that they were experiencing higher call volume and would get back to them within a certain period of time.  Once the call center in Tulsa was back online and working, Teltek worked with their service provider again to reroute the number and forward the number back to the call center.  Simultaneously, Teltek was working with inclement weather conditions in Baltimore, Maryland and employees, working remotely from their own homes, were able to support Baltimore CASH Campaign.
