Avaya Plans to Offer Hosted Phone Systems

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

Here are 5 key take-aways from Avaya’s May 17th “Think Big” presentation around the Avaya IP Office system and their plans for growth. Enjoy!

  1. Small to Mid-size business is a main focus for Avaya and they will continue to invest time, $$, and resources into that space.
  2. A feature server will become available in the near future to integrate Avaya applications into the IP Office CPU. This will eliminate the need for external OneX Portal/voicemail server.
  3. Hosted Avaya applications will become available from most of the major phone and internet service providers enabling Avaya customers to pay as they go for applications. (Example, a florist will be able to subscribe to Interactive Voice Response (IVR) around the weeks leading up to Mothers Day or prom season and then cancel it after their rush is over. This will enable them to place their orders to an automated voice response system without having to spend a lot of money up front… investment protection!)
  4. Eventually, Avaya will offer fully hosted phone system applications;  predicting this will become available sometime towards the end of 2012 to mid 2013.
  5. Avaya currently has sold over 200,000 Avaya IP Offices phone systems and has 30 million users worldwide!
