Now is the time of year when you start thinking about warmer weather and sunnier days. I like to welcome the season by leaving the windows open, hanging out on the back patio with my dogs and shopping for new Spring clothes!
Spring is also a time of renewal and a great opportunity to clear out the junk and freshen things up. Many of us will commence Spring Cleaning of some kind; powerwashing the front of the house, dusting off the patio furniture, donating unwanted items or setting up the grill for barbecue season.

Yesterday, Avaya announced that it has acquired video conferencing company RADVISION for $230 million. The acquisition is expected to close within 90 days.
Kevin Kennedy, President and CEO of Avaya was quoted as saying, “…We believe this transaction will leverage a highly-skilled, incredibly talented and experienced workforce ready to deliver video to enterprise customers. With this acquisition we will seek to extend videoconferencing to any device, anytime, anywhere, making it as easy as a phone call…”

For all Avaya IP Office Release 7.0installations that occurred after 12 September 2011, Avaya is providing a no-cost upgrade to Release 8.0. An issue has been identified where Avaya IP Office Release 7.0 systems that chose to upgrade to Release 8.0 in the 90-day entitlement window using just the Release 8.0 software will revert to Basic Edition 90 days after initial installation. Avaya will be releasing a Release 8.0 up-issue that will address this problem. In the meantime, contact Teltek for assistance in upgrading to Release 8.0.

On Wednesday, February 8th, Teltek hosted a seminar with Avaya at its Baltimore, MD office in the Emerging Technology Center. The purpose of the seminar was to highlight the capabilities of the Avaya IP Office phone system and show current and future users how a phone system can transform the way their companies do business. There were 30 free tickets available and the event was sold out!
Teltek kicked off by welcoming the audience and introducing them to a few members of team Teltek and the Avaya and Xima representatives who were present.

The start of a shiny new out-of-the-box year is a great time to re-evaluate and figure out how to make this year better than the last. Another helpful exercise is to view what’s important to you from a fresh perspective. Sometimes a different viewpoint is all it takes to appreciate and best utilize what you have in your personal and work lives.
Look back and then look forward. What can you learn from last year and aspire to in 2012? Maybe this is the year you realize you’ve been working too much and finally take that exotic vacation. Spending time in a foreign destination could introduce you to fascinating new cultures and interesting people!
