Wednesday, September 8th, 2010My Life as a Teltek Intern
Friday, May 7th, 2010Today marks the 7thmonth of my time here at Teltek. It is also my last day as an intern. As I reflect today, I am fortunate for my experience here. When I was interviewed in early October, I spoke with Christy; I remember one of the first things she told me was “Chris will probably drop in to speak with you for a few minutes.” Now, if you don’t already know, Chris is the CEO of Teltek. I admit it was a little intimidating to hear that. But, once he entered the room and began speaking to me, I was put at ease. I could tell that both he and Christy were truly interested in what I had to say, and I was amazed that Chris was hands-on in the interview process. I would eventually learn that this was the same case in the day-to-day business at Teltek. Chris, when he wasn’t in the office, was a phone call or email away and Christy was available constantly, just a few feet away to answer questions or give me new assignments.
I’m most proud of my work in constructing Teltek’s social media presence as well as the blog you see before you. I worked diligently for the first several months subscribing to the different sites, providing content and troubleshooting problems. This culminated in a presentation to the office in December. Now, being a Communication Major, I have done numerous presentation/speeches, and I have grown more confident over the years but, this presentation was much more important. It was going to be in front of the entire office, including Chris. I admit I have never been so nervous in my life, but as I presented my work, I finally saw the big picture of all that I had accomplished during the semester. Chris would later commend me for my presentation and tell me that he could not sense that I was nervous at all. Regardless, that was the day that I knew I wanted to be a permanent part of Teltek.
