Everyone At Teltek Gets “Stabilized” For The Holidays

Last night, the Teltek team held its annual holiday party at Stables restaurant in Westminster, MD. Not only is Stables a great venue for a social gathering, but it is also a customer of Teltek’s! Back in November, we installed a NEC DSX phone system for the Carroll County restaurant. In celebration of a great year, employees and their guests dined and socialized together.

Teltek Sends Holiday Cheer To Their Carroll County Neighbors

For the past few years, Teltek employees have contributed to Neighbors in Need, a program sponsored by the Human Services Programs of Carroll County in an effort to improve the quality of life of at-risk
and low-income local residents. We have a strong connection to Carroll County since our corporate office is headquartered there and are happy to help our neighbors have a more enjoyable holiday.

This year, Teltek donated 5 large bags of clothing, toiletries, household items, toys and gifts to the cause, which was able to help over 1300 families with the help of many generous donors.

Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and Teltek

Who is on the Move? The Carroll County Chamber is!

The Carroll County Chamber has recently announced that it is packing up and moving into the spotlight. With limited exposure at its current location, the Chamber is strategically placing itself amongst the heat of downtown Westminster. The Chamber hopes to reposition itself as a beacon for the Main Street crowd and surrounding area, and to further serve Carroll County as a valuable resource. Playing a large part in the move is Mike McMullin, President of the Chamber, who has served an integral role in organizing the various aspects of the Chamber’s relocation. One of the areas that Mike is involved in includes organizing vendors and contractors to assist in the various phases involved in designing and implementing the internal framework, which goes into every office relocation.

Teltek Participates in IT CareerPaths Program

On Wednesday June 22nd, the Carroll Community College located in Westminster, Maryland held its annual IT CareerPaths program-“An intensive four-day continuing education program for current high school students interested in a career in Information Technology.” As a part of this program, local IT-based companies are encouraged to attend and provide a first-hand look at their respective field. Teltek was more than happy to participate in just a great opportunity. Bob and Chris Nicoli taught a class on the ins and outs (literally + figuratively) of the cabling used in the telecommunications industry. Afterwards, Bob reflected on the experience: “It’s good to see young people still interested in our business.”

Welcome to Carroll County, Maryland!

Teltek would like to welcome the new (and future) tenants of the Liberty Exchange business development in Eldersburg, MD! Located on Liberty Road just west of Rt. 26 and Rt. 32 on the property of the old Freedom Golf Center and Driving Range, St. John’s Properties has constructed the first of three buildings in a new mixed-use space. According to the Carroll County Economic Development, the site will contain 220,000 square feet – a mix of office, flex and complementary retail spaces.

Teltek Congratulates Doug Howard, New Carroll County, MD Commissioner

Congratulations to Doug Howard for winning the recent election to represent District 5 on the County Board of Commissioners in Carroll County, MD.  Doug has been a long standing friend and client of Teltek’s over the years; we are very excited for him and wish him well in his future ventures.

His new position will displace him from his current role as the Director of Carroll Area Transit Services (CATS), a local nonprofit whose mission is to provide safe, efficient, affordable, customer friendly community transportation to ensure mobility for the residents of Carroll Count.

Maryland Receives Broadband Infrastructure Grant

Maryland competed for and won one of the largest broadband infrastructure grants in the country. The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) awarded the $115.2 M grant to help Maryland connect community anchor institutions and advance economic development.

Carroll is a part of the One Maryland Broadband Network, a grant sub-recipient, which includes nine other local governments including Anne Arundel County, City of Annapolis, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Frederick County, Harford County, Howard County, Montgomery County and Prince George’s County. The funding will allow the consortium to build-out and interconnect state and local fiber optic networks. According to One Maryland technical staff, the proposed network plan would directly connect over 1,000 community anchor institutions, including 458 schools, 262 public safety facilities, 221 government buildings, 44 libraries and 21 community colleges.

Congratulations to Ben Shafer, the newest member of the Teltek Team!

Teltek's Newest Employee

After completing 3 consecutive internships at Teltek Ben is now officially Teltek’s newest full time employee! He is a 2010 graduate of McDaniel College located nearby in Westminster, MD where he majored in Marketing and Creative Writing. Hired as a Marketing/Administrative Assistant and spends two days a week in Teltek’s new Baltimore office, helping the team with their various marketing initiatives including: social media, blogging, contact management and newsletters. The other three days each week he is in the Westminster office helping Teltek President, Debi Nicoli with various accounting duties.  Ben is “excited to be on board as a full time employee and looks forward to helping Teltek in all facets of their business”
