Know the Code: New Area Code for Maryland starting in 2012
Wednesday, December 14th, 2011On March 24, 2012, a fifth telephone area code, 667, will be added to join the existing Maryland codes of 301, 410, 240 and 443. Originally, 301 covered all of Maryland, but in 1991, the state was split in half and 410 was assigned to the other half. In 1997, codes 240 and 443 were added.
An excessive number of mobile devices and the multiple phone numbers assigned to them have forced the issue; we’re simply running out of numbers. Other states are adding area codes as well. According to an article in the Washington Post, the North American Number Plan is now issuing approximately 25 and 30 new area codes each year.

Now that Thanksgiving and Black Friday are behind us, I’m ready to start thinking about Christmas, the biggest holiday of the year.
Preparing for this day requires planning, organization and meeting certain deadlines. Cards need to be written out and addressed so they can be mailed by a certain date…ideally, prior to Christmas Day! Gifts must be purchased and wrapped before they can be bestowed on friends and family and cookies should be baked as early as possible so you can enjoy them for the next few weeks
Mining for Gold in Call Center Audio Recordings with Avaya Phone Technology
Wednesday, November 9th, 2011Call centers and other businesses can use software to dig out the jewels of information found in recorded audio of conversations with their employees and customers. As a Maryland Avaya Dealer delivering call center solutions, Teltek is looking forward to the release of new Avaya software solutions that will soon be available due to Avaya’s recent acquisition of Aurix, a global provider of “ Speech Analytics” and “Data Mining” technology.
Aurix has developed patented technology that Avaya is going to incorporate into its contact center and unified communications solutions. It will be able to do real time as well as historical automated analysis of recorded audio in either one-to-one or group conversation. Jonathan Varman, an Avaya spokesman has indicated that the first products will be available in the first quarter of 2012.
Everyone is familiar with web search, and the value of search for business intelligence in documents is widely understood. Just think if you could automatically search hundreds or thousands of hours of calls to customer service call centers. You could mine out the important trends happening in those conversations. You could see long hold times or periods of silence. You could determine what clients are complaining about the most and work to address those issues. There’s GOLD in your call center audio recordings!
