Recently I was asked to help evaluate a client’s options for phone systems; they were looking for assistance in how to decide between the Avaya IP Office phone system and a hosted PBX system from their current phone and internet service provider.  I thought our blog readers may be interested in (and benefit from) our analysis.

Working Hard at Home

Forty years ago, most office workers woke up, ate breakfast, and went to work. At 4:50 pm, they packed up, grabbed their briefcases and motored home.

As the world continues to grow and the workplace changes at a blinding pace, working remote from home has shifted from a concept to the common place for businesses of all shapes and sizes and from industries that include hospitals, accounting firms, financial services and advertising agencies.

Avaya IP Office Release 6.0 Product Update

Now that Avaya IP Office Release 6.0 has been publically available for a few months now and just about all of the bugs have been worked out we wanted to highlight some of the main benefits.  Release 6.0 introduced new hardware and features to simplify the ordering, deployment, and use of IP Office in small offices below 20 users.  It also supports enhanced capacity and resilience for multi-site installations as well as several new rangers of telephones, and much more.

Avaya IP Office Release 6.1 and Nortel Phone Integration

Below you will find Avaya’s projected roadmap for IP Office R-6.1 software as well as the integration of Nortel phones into the IP Office platform. At this point, the information has not been confirmed, but we think it is a nice guideline of what is to come.

Avaya’s releases Top 5 Communications Trends for 2010

Avaya Canada Corp. late last week released what it says are the “top business communications trends for the year.” A description from the company on each appear below:

1. Contact centres adopt social media: Customers will initiate more company interactions via social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter. In 2010, more businesses will embrace mining of the social network, capturing new opportunities to provide service, address issues and promote sales.
