Team Members

Chris Nicoli, CEO
In July of 2006, Chris Nicoli stepped up and took over the role of CEO after spending much of his life learning the industry, customers, and business practices from his father.  By mid-2007 the family business was effectively handed off to the second generation and in full operation under Chris’ hand along with the continued consultative support of Bob Nicoli.  During high school, Chris worked with his father and volunteered at the Sykesville Freedom Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT.  After high school, Chris left his hometown to join the Army National Guard and then upon his return from several missions in 2002 began to work again with his family at Teltek.  Chris’ combined enthusiasm and business knowledge with his father’s experience and faithful customer base has enabled Teltek to quadruple revenues in 2006 and nearly double in 2007.
Debi Nicoli, CFO and Managing Partner
Debi took over the daily operations and financial activities from husband, Bob, in January of 2006.  The backbone of the Nicoli family, Debi has raised three children and assisted her husband, Bob, in developing Teltek from a sole proprietorship in Rockville, Maryland to the highly recognized Carroll County, MD technology company that it is today.  Debi is responsible for all of the financial, accounting, human resources, and employee benefits matters at Teltek.  Her attention to detail and passion for working with numbers enables her to execute the daily accounting task properly and efficiently while still managing to keep Bob and Chris’ spending under budget.  Debi feels that her years of managing a household and experience of being a medical administrator has given her the understanding of what it takes to run a professional sales and service organization.
Bob Nicoli, President
Bob Nicoli began his experience in the telecommunications field in 1964, working for C&P Communications [see article and photo from 1965].  After the deregulation of telephone companies in 1983(?), he was given the option of which direction to move forward, and found himself working for AT&T until 1993 as a repair technician and installation engineer.  At this time there was yet another spin-off of the telephone company and Bob’s division of AT&T became Lucent Technologies.  After his retirement from the corporate world in 1996, Bob decided to begin his own venture, and founded Teltek Systems as an independent service company for Lucent Technologies which is now known as Avaya Communications.  Over the past 40+ years Bob’s dedication to customer servce, quality of work, and customer loyalty has enabled Teltek to become one of the leading Avaya dealers in the Baltimore, Washington area.  It is from these values for which Teltek’s rigorous set of standards and goals derived from.

Avaya’s existence as a standalone company began Oct. 2, 2000, when they were spun off from Lucent Technologies and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol AV.  For more than a century prior to that day they were a part of Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies.

In their early days they earned a reputation for creating high-performing, solidly reliable -- some would say "bullet-proof" -- enterprise communication solutions incorporating products such as desktop phones, office-building switches and switchboards, call-center solutions, voice-mail software, cabling, and many others.  Esteemed Bell Laboratories scientists won 1,600 pre-spin off patents developing technology now under the Avaya banner.

Avaya’s reputations for product quality and technological innovation are as strong today as ever while they focus their efforts in areas such as Internet Protocol telephony, wireless data communication, customer-relationship-management software and speech recognition technology.

The offspring, Avaya Labs has added 100 more patents in the past few years to their list as they continue to create new ways to help company’s route customer contacts, analyze their data networks for converge voice and data traffic, and find other ways to unleash the power of communications.

New technologies and over a century of development and innovation while keeping the same focus enables Avaya to provide the communication tools to small businesses to Fortune 500 succeed in their everyday endeavors.
