"Do Not Disturb" Creates A Disturbance For A Partner User

Jan 5, 2012

One of our customers had an Avaya Partner ACS Release 3 processor with Avaya Mail VS R-5 (PN: 6108-544A) voicemail. The processor crashed and we replaced it with an ACS-R8 processor. Shortly after the replacement processor was installed, a new challenge arose. The auto attendant was unable to transfer a call to an extension that had the Do Not Disturb (DND) function activated.  The call transfer could not be completed and the caller was stuck hearing a repetitive message that said the call was being transferred, but there was never a connection and the caller was unable to leave a message.

This was a unique issue because manually, calls could still be transferred from one extension to another and did reach the intended party’s voice mail. As long as the auto attendant is not transferring the call, the system will work just fine. There was a patch back in 2005 to fix this but it is no longer available.

Our customer was advised of the following options:

*Upgrade their voicemail to a more recent release

*Upgrade their phone system to Avaya IP Office (enabling them to reuse their existing Avaya
Partner Euro Phones)

*Continue to manually transfer calls

If you experience a similar issue with your Partner system, you may want to consider an upgrade to an Avaya IP Office system. The Partner system is no longer being produced and it will become more difficult to solve problems like this in the future. Call Teltek today if you need advice on how to upgrade or maintain your Avaya Partner or IP Office phone system.
