I’ve been hearing from a few friends and colleagues lately that one of the people in the Maryland Lottery’s “Thank Ray” tribute to Ray Lewis looks a lot like me.
That’s because it is me.
You may be wondering how your average Girl On Wire ends up in a TV ad and the answer to that is simple…luck and timing.
It just so happens that Storyfarm New Media, the video production company who filmed the ad, works a few doors down from Teltek in the Can Company and they were shooting the video right outside our building. I was returning from my lunch hour and came across the lights and cameras. I’m a friendly type of person and I know some of the guys who work there, so I stopped to say hi. They asked if I had a few minutes to say thanks to Ray for his years as a Baltimore Raven and the rest is TV history.
After ten minutes of vigorous coaching in an attempt to work with my complete lack of acting skills, I went back to work and forgot about it until three days later when the spot aired during the Ravens-Colts game. At the time it played, I was in my kitchen getting a drink. My neighbor, who came over to watch the game started screaming and pointing at the TV…I totally missed it. A minute later my cell phone started chiming away to let me know there were new texts, emails and Facebook posts from some of my friends who were watching the game.
Some of the messages were very certain, “I just saw you in the Ray Lewis Ad!” Others were more skeptical, “Have I had too many beers? Someone who looks like you just told Ray she will miss him.”
I didn’t tell many people about it, but I did send my Mom a link to the video because you have to tell your Mom when you’re on TV.
The second time the ad aired, for the Ravens-Broncos game, the only response I got was from my sister in Pennsylvania, who seemed annoyed that she had to hear I was in a TV ad from her kids’ babysitter instead of me…oops.
It was on last night during the Ravens-Patriots game and I missed it again. I was out at a bar in Canton with friends and on my way back from the bathroom when it aired.
In case you missed it, here’s a link:

They are all really short clips. I’m near the end, after the bald guy. I think the best part of the video is the 3 ladies at the very end of the film 🙂 I feel very lucky to have been a part of it, especially since the Ravens are doing awesome and will now play in the Super Bowl!
I’m calling it my “Big Break”, so watch out Hollywood. LOL
We all know who the real star is and that’s the Baltimore Ravens. Gooooooooo Ravens!
