Teltek, a Frederick Maryland business is seeking Field Technician to add to their team. This position will primarily consist of deploying and troubleshooting various technologies such as VOIP phone systems, IT networking, low voltage cabling, access control, security cameras, etc. to businesses and Government agencies in and around the DMV. Additionally, when not in the field, this position will provide remote support from Teltek’s Frederick office. Eligible candidates should be reliable, dynamic self-starters with exceptional communication skills and the ability to work autonomously to install and provision technology. Additionally, a clean driving record and background will be required. A company vehicle, laptop and tools will be provided following the introductory period.
Responsibilities:
Provide onsite and remote installation, programming, troubleshooting, and training of the following technologies:
- Telephone/internet service and Low voltage cabling
- IP-based security cameras and access control systems
- Premise and cloud-based computers and server deployments
- Cybersecurity services
- Active Directory and DNS
- Windows/Apple desktop and server operating systems
- Microsoft 365 and other MS applications
- Monitoring and managing data backups and disaster recovery devices
- Assisting sales team with site surveys and solution designs
- Various other cloud technologies
- Data backup and disaster recovery
- Premise and VOIP-based phone systems (typically MetaSwitch, MS Teams, Avaya and NEC PBX)
- Wide & Local Area Networks (typically Cisco Meraki, SonicWALL and Ubiquiti)
- Time outside of business hours and being on call will be required
- Travel outside of Teltek’s standard service area required (may require airplane travel)
- Other duties & responsibilities Teltek Management deems essential for the successful business operation
Qualifications:
- Some college strongly preferred; high school diploma/GED required
- 3-5 Years’ experience installing or supporting similar technologies
- Some formalized technology training/education/certification(s) or equivalent on the job experience (Microsoft Network+ and A+, MCSE/MCP, CCNA, etc.)
- “Can-Do”, positive attitude and team player and the willingness to take whatever initiative necessary to service customer needs efficiently
- Strong, effective communication and interpersonal skills a must!
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, follow through and documentation skills
- Ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision
- Motivated, hardworking and an independent self-starter
- Proficiency in verbal and written English
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; clean background check
- Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs independently
- Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet utilizing a lift and/or ladders
