The Avaya End of Sale Notices Continue

May 22, 2010

Last week end of sale notices were announced for 5610 & 5621 IP Phones designed for Avaya’s IP Office phone system. Additionally, Avaya announced that selected Voice Compression Module (VCM) channel licenses for Avaya IP Office Release 5 software would also be discontinued; these product announcements are effective August 6th, 2010. Here are the details:

5610’s and 5621’s:

Summary:

With the general availability of Avaya IP Office Release 6.0 supporting many models of 9600 IP phones that offer a superior design and a higher feature set than the older 5600 IP phones, Avaya is announcing end of sale of the 5600 IP Phones.

Migration Strategy:

Avaya IP Office Release 6.0 on IP Office 500 hardware supports many models of 9600 IP phones. The 9600 IP phones offer a sleek new design and additional options like color displays and built-in Gigabit Ethernet Versions.

For users of 5610 phones, consider the 9620L or 9620C phone. For users of the 5621, either the 9650 or the 9640 are good alternatives.

In addition to the 9600 IP phones, the line of 1600I phones is available, addressing the more value-conscious customer needs. These phones are also supported on IP Office 400 hardware.

Notes:

  1. The 5602W phone and 4600 line of phones, shared with Avaya Communication Manager, as well as the EU24BL button module already is end of sale as previously announced.
  2. This announcement does not affect the 5400 digital phones. There is no planned End of Sales date for these digital sets.

Avaya IPO VCM Channel Licenses

Summary:

With the availability of IP office Release 6.0 software and the license simplification of IP stations, Voice Compression Module (VCM) channel licensing is no longer needed. To streamline the orderable materials, Avaya is removing select VCM channels license codes.

Migration Codes and Discontinued Order Codes:

The following material order codes have been discontinued:

  • 202962 – IPO LIC IP500 VCM LIC 8 CH
  • 202963 – IPO LIC IP500 VCM LIC 16 CH
  • 202964 – IPO LIC IP500 VCM LIC 28 CH
  • 202965 – IPO LIC IP500 VCM LIC 60 CH

The above VCM channel license options can be fully substituted by multiples of the 4-channel VCM license which remains available for sale: 202961 – IPO LIC IP500 VCM LIC 4 CH.

Notes:

  1. For IP Office 500 systems with IP Office Release 6.0, VCM channel licensing is not necessary.
  2. Avaya will continue to honor previously executed enhanced warranty, post-warranty and service contracts in accordance with the terms of those agreements.
