My Mom and I have a disagreement when it comes to football. Neither of us watches much of the sport, but I have been a Ravens fan since I moved to Baltimore and she thinks my allegiance should be with the Pittsburgh Steelers, since I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. While I see her point, Baltimore is my city of residence now and I feel committed to cheer on my (new) home team. Even when their performance is less than, uh, stellar (I’m not specifically referring to last night’s game but…ouch).
I’m by no means a superfan, I don’t even watch every game, but I wear purple on Fridays, own a Ravens t-shirt and sweatshirt and I had a Ravens magnet on my truck until some lowlife snatched it. Team spirit is a wonderful thing and I love being part of it. It’s fun to walk down the hallway of our building to see other fans in their Ravens jerseys and rocking the purple.
In addition to being a fan of Baltimore’s football and baseball teams (that’s right, I’m an O’s fan as well) I also try to shop local when I’m able to. It’s important to support the businesses in our area to keep the local economy strong.
