Starting very early on December 24th, approximately 1,200 volunteers at Peterson Air Force Base will answer incoming calls from children dialing in to the 1-877-HI-NORAD Santa hotline wishing to track Father Christmas’s progress. Since 1955, NORAD has answered the toll free inquiries from tiny tots across the globe to let them know where on earth Santa is at that time. According to the NORAD Tracks Santa website, radar, satellites, Santa cams and fighter jets are utilized to get the most accurate read on the sleigh’s exact position.
NORAD’s operations center handles these important calls with the help of Avaya Aura® software and they have a blizzard of calls to manage! NORAD Tracks Santa received more than 80,000 calls on Christmas Eve last year. So if you need the 411 on eight tiny reindeer and their driver, give the Santa Hotline a jingle!
