Do you ever get a message in your in-box that frustrates, offends or baffles you? Most of us have experienced that many times over. If you find it helpful, feel free to forward this list as a reply to the sender who might not know email etiquette!
DO:
*Proofread your emails for spelling, grammar and punctuation
*Be clear and concise with your message
*Include and respond to the thread, so everyone knows what you’re talking about
*Make sure the tone of the mail is courteous and professional
*Use the subject line so the reader understands the topic being discussed
DON’T:
*Type in ALL CAPS. It’s annoying to some readers and implies shouting
*Abuse the Priority/Urgent (!) symbol. if you use this frequently, no one will take a truly urgent email seriously
*Use fancy fonts. It can appear unprofessional and some fonts are difficult to read
*Forward chain letters. No one wants bad luck or a virus, which are often embedded in chain letters
*Talk in text. The office is no place for LOL, L8R or OMG
This is a very short list, so please let us know which tips you would add…
