BlackBerry’s at it again . . .

Dec 2, 2013

. . . posting another open letter to consumers on its website.

The letter tells consumers that the “for sale” sign has been taken down after a strategic investment from Fairfax Financial amongst others,  “which represents a vote of confidence in the future of BlackBerry.”  BlackBerry further asserts that they have a renewed focus on getting back their “heritage and roots – delivering enterprise-grade, end-to-end mobile solutions. “

In the “things that make you go hmmmmmm” category, pay special attention to the logo’s in the letter’s header (below.)

The BlackBerry logo is intermingled with the likes of Apple and Android.  That’s a bold (no pun intended) statement by BlackBerry, both by putting themselves in the same company as industry leading OS’s  but also a nod to their new focus, multi-platform MDM (Mobile Device Management.)

In fact, you could say that BlackBerry invented MDM but with a multitude of competitors entering the marketplace over the past decade claiming to do it better, faster and  cheaper, only time will tell.  It will be interesting to see if Blackberry will be successful with their new strategy and if that will include the hardware piece of their business or focus solely on software.
