Experiencing upgrade headaches?

Sep 4, 2014

Life in the cloud could be just what the doctor ordered!

When evaluating a new system, be it technology or otherwise, cost is always involved in the equation.  Cost can mean a lot of things, but for many it is a matter of how will this affect their time, operating expenses, capital spend, and ultimately their balance sheet.  If a new system could actually save money and simplify work, it would seemingly be a no brainer, like moving your network to the cloud.

Looking at this specifically from a cost perspective, the implementation costs, compared to it’s in premise counterpart, are far lower.  When considering an on premise solution, you have to include the cost of the hardware itself, the operating system license, and the labor costs for installation and configuration. After its up and running ongoing maintenance costs need to be considered and eventual upgrade – Yep, you’ll have to go through this process every 3-5 years.

Conversely, with a cloud solution, the installation and configuration are just a matter of deciding how much space and processing power you’ll need and connecting the dots.  All of the licensing fees, costs for the hardware and maintenance are included in one fee.  Need extra space? Need a different type pf server for another project?   Not to worry, additional space or even access to a different type of OS can be easily added.  Redundancy?  Yep, that’s built in to with backups in different geographic locations.

By sharing hardware and resources in this type of cloud based environment you’re able to get the most bang for your buck.  Think of it as outsourcing headaches to a specialist organization leaving you more time to work on your specialty – your business!
