On Tuesday May 31st Avaya announced their plans to discontinue the Nortel/Avaya Business Communication Manager (BCM) 50 and 450 phone system models. This will be effective nine months from the announcement date, March 1st 2012. Avaya says that “they will make every effort to have supply of these products available for all orders, but cannot guarantee product availability through their End of Sale dates”. Additionally, Avaya will provide Manufacturer’s support for 3 years past the end of sale date (March 1, 2015) and three additional years of extended service and support for a total of 6 years after March 1st 2012.
This announcement is part of the previously announced Avaya Nortel convergence strategy and the launch of Avaya IP Office Release 7.0. Avaya is offering several migration plans for existing Nortel customers. Their goal is to provide each of them with a choice about the direction they wish to take solutions that can meet varying customer requirements.
