If there is enough space within the room, a workstation is a helpful addition for anyone who may need to do some programming or upgrade software. Cabinets, racks and shelving can be utilized to maximize effective usage of space. Ceilings should be high to allow for proper ventilation and there should be space under the floor for cabling. To ensure high speeds and compliance with fire codes, we recommend high grade plenum cabling of at least Cat 5e.
Once the server room is functional, it should be monitored round the clock utilizing environmental monitoring tools that can alert system administrators via email or text message.
