Last week, Yahoo confirmed reports that 450,000 passwords and email addresses belonging to Yahoo Voices users had been breached from an older file from Yahoo Contributor Network, which contained Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and other email addresses.
Yahoo Contributor Network is an online platform for people to share video, audio and slide shows
While most of the leaked data appears to be outdated, the hackers may have been able to access personal, user-provided details such as full name, address, date of birth, etc. Yahoo responded quickly by repairing the security gap, changing the passwords of the affected Yahoo users and notifying the companies whose users accounts were compromised.
A hacker or hacking group known as DD3Ds Company leaked the Yahoo passwords Wednesday and claimed to only have the intent of exposing vulnerability. They hacked the system with an SQL injection attack.
