Ask The Teltek Tekspert: Double Trouble With Dual Monitors

Mark in Frederick, MD asks:

“I work out of multiple offices and my primary office has dual monitors. There are times when I have left an application open in the dual monitor environment and then if I log in at an office that has only one monitor, I can’t seem to access it. Is there a quick fix for this?”

Mark, this is a common problem when working in a terminal server environment where there are multiple monitors at one location and only one monitor at a 2nd location. For more information on the advantages and disadvantages of multiple monitors, please see my previous Tekspert column, “Are Two Monitors Better Than One?”

In the meantime, here are three easy steps you can follow to access the program from a single screen:

1. In the task bar, click the application to make sure it has focus

2. Hold the windows key down (The one usually between the left Ctrl and Alt key)

3. Use the left or right arrow to swap from left to right screen

This should fix your problem. If you are on the fence about expanding to a multiple monitor setup, call Teltek today for a consultation and/or site survey.
