Teltek Joins Area Businesses In Collecting Items For Hurricane Victims

Nov 9, 2012

This past Wednesday, Teltek’s Westminster office was literally bursting at the seams with piles of donations from generous Carroll County residents and businesses. After hearing of an effort by Karin Schwartz of Springboard Business Development to assist victims of the hurricane, Chris Nicoli of Teltek offered our Main Street corporate headquarters in Carroll County as a collection site.

The idea to collect donations was conceived by Justin Lotano, a financial advisor with Lotano & Galligan-Stierle and a native of New Jersey. He posted a message on his Facebook page and the concept went viral.

Teltek posted information about the collection on our blog, Twitter and Facebook pages and word quickly spread even further and we are happy to report that the result was heartwarming and overwhelming!

After amassing numerous bags and boxes of clothing, blankets, water and other supplies, Teltek team members transported a full truckload of donations to the Downtown Dog Resort in Canton, one of three primary collection centers.

The sight at Downtown Dog resort was truly impressive. They had rooms starting to fill up with donations of every kind and a “wall of water” that was growing by the minute!

Tomorrow morning, three eighteen wheelers will be packed with everything collected from the three donation sites and driven directly into four of the New Jersey communities hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy.

There is a team of volunteers in New Jersey waiting to distribute the goods to the Fire Departments and Churches who are working to ensure that the members of their communities have the essentials they need to recover from superstorm Sandy’s devastating aftermath.

Teltek would like to recognize Justin for his awesome suggestion, Springboard Business Development for organizing this relief effort, Downtown Dog Resort for accepting the donations and everyone who generously gave to the cause!
