When visiting the sites of prospective customers, our Account Executives and Technicians will sometimes report that they observed a “Frankensystem” otherwise, known as a disaster waiting to happen.
Here are a few examples of Frankensystems:
*a collection of various analog phones wired together
*multiple answering machines being used in lieu of voice mail
*several power strips looped together
Frankenstein was a very scary creature due to the fact that he was built from various body parts and a Frankensystem can be equally horrifying.
Frankensystems occur for various reasons, but it’s usually because there are time and/or money constraints that prevent a company from hiring a telecommunications and technology expert like Teltek. These cobbled together monstrosities may function for a period of time, but they are not configurations we would recommend.
Many problems can result from a Frankensystem. If different types of phones are being used, there could be training issues since having more than one type of phone means that you would need to keep user instructions on hand for each kind to refer to when new employees are hired and need to learn the new phone system. Repairs and MACs (Moves, Adds, Changes) would also be an issue since you would need technicians from different companies to service the equipment.
If a system is held together with multiple power strips instead of UPSs (Uninterrupted Power Supply), there is the potential for fire or a power loss that could potentially shut down your communication and technology equipment for days.
If you are fearful of your Frankensystem (and frankly, you should be) Teltek is here to send that monster back to the graveyard! Our expert consultants will sit down with you to discuss your company’s work flow and communication requirements and then configure and install the equipment so that it is efficient, reliable and safe.
