Work smarter, not harder. 5 time saving tips for iPhone users.

Sep 30, 2014

Being a busy professional, I’m always looking for time saving tips and shortcuts to help me make the most of my time.  The right technology can be a big time saver and making a few small tweaks in your every day usage can catapult you in to Superman (or Wonder Woman in my case) status as far as efficiency goes.

I am always on the lookout for these tips whether they be self discovered or come across my desk (or phone) from another blogger.  So you can imagine my delight today when I read fellow blogger, Valerie Zogas of Cvent’s post full of tips on using your iPhone more efficiently.  Here’s a quick overview of Valerie’s tips:

  1. Want to speed up your recharging time?  Turn on Airplane mode.  When your iPhone can focus solely on charging itself rather than staying connected to the closest cellular tower or deciding which WiFi network or Bluetooth device to connect to you can almost double your charge in the same time period.
  2. Want to be lightening fast when typing texts or emails?  Double tap the space bar to end and begin a new sentence. Punctuation and spacing are done in a flash!
  3. Say no to scrolling!! OK, you really can’t cut it out all together BUT easily find your way back to the top of the article or page – just tap your status bar (where the time is displayed.)
  4. Organize, organize, organize!  Group similar apps together.  Your apps will be easy to find if they are organized logically.  For example – I keep my Southwest, Amtrak and Uber apps in the same folder for east access when I’m travelling.  To organize apps into folders: “Press and hold an app to make it wiggle, then drag it on top of the other app to create a folder.”
  5.  Often misplace your phone?  You can waste valuable time searching your home, car or office to find a misplaced phone.  Use the  “Find my Phone” feature to save time  (settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone)

I’ve already started using a few of these today.  How about you?  What would you add to the list?  What’s your favorite time saving tip for iPhone users?
