If this is the first blog of this series that you are reading be sure to check out the prior three blogs including and check in each Monday over the next few weeks for more:
- April 25, 2011: NEC DSX Small Business Phone System: Powerful, Affordable, & Flexible
- May 2, 2011: NEC DSX R3.2 Software Dramatically Improves VoIP Features ( 1 of 2)
- May 9, 2011: NEC DSX R.2 Software Dramatically Improves IntraMail Voicemail (2 of 2)
The new NEC DSX Phone Manager enables users to customize their telephone’s features right from the convenience of their web browsers. Using a web interface frees up valuable disk space on each end-users computer so there is no need to load any special software on to a user’s PC. The DSX Phone Manager works with the DSX internal web server to let users tailor the most frequently-used features, including:
- Call Forwarding
- Email Notification and Find Me Follow Me (with IntraMail Pro)
- IntraMail mailbox settings (including Group Mailboxes)
- Message Notification (Cascaded Outcalling)
- Personal and Company Speed Dial
- Settings for the telephone speaker, dialing, headset, and Off-Hook Signaling
Easy to Set Up and Access:
To access the NEC DSX Phone Manager, the extension user simply launches their web browser, enters in the IP address of the NEC DSX phone system, enters their extension number and PIN, and they’re ready to start making programming changes
Note:
- The system must be prior connected to the company’s Local Area Network via a Network cable to the Ethernet port on the NEC DSX processor.
- Have a Personal Identification Number pre-programmed in the NEC system
- Have an Access Level of 3 or higher with knowledge of the administrator password
Intuitive and Unobtrusive
Since the browser interface is modeled after the Menu key options and the IntraMail user displays the DSX Phone Manager is intuitive and friendly; the user is up to and should have a basic understanding of how to operate the software without any special training required.
NEC’s DSX Phone Manager won’t interrupt calls or disable their phone during programming so extension users can access the software at any time – while busy on the phone or while idle..
Special Features for Administrators
Phone Manager System Administrators that have access Levels 4 or 5 have a unique navigation bar in the DSX Phone Manager header that lets them program any other phone in the system. An administrator can program any option available to a user as well as some unique administrator-only options including:
