Girl on Wire – Countdown to Teltek’s Margarita Party!

Aug 1, 2011

As you may have heard, Teltek will be hosting its 3rd annual Margarita Party and Open House on August 24th. If you have not heard, consider this your invitation (register for the Margarita Party here)!

Planning this event has been a really fun task for all of us Teltekians and I guarantee it will be a blast! This year’s theme is teleworking, otherwise known as doing your job from a location that is not your typical office environment. We will have representatives here from Avaya, Telework Baltimore and other companies who can assist you with starting or maintaining a telework program for you and your co-workers. Our very special guest will be Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the mayor of Baltimore!

Teltek is not only a supporter of telework and supplier of the necessary equipment, but we also practice the fine art of telework itself! All Teltek employees are provided a VOIP phone to keep at their residence to utilize if needed in the event of illness or bad weather. During the back-to-back blizzards of 2009, we were one of the few Baltimore companies that was fully operational; you can read about that experience by clicking here.

But enough about telework, let’s explore the real star of the margarita party. I’m talking about that cool, lime green concoction that is the official cocktail of summer, Teltek and Girl on Wire. On August 24th, it will be flowing freely from a fountain in our trendy new office in the Emerging Technology Center, known by the locals as the ETC.

Did you know that “margarita” is the Spanish word for daisy? No wonder that drink always cheers me up! The precise origin of the margarita is unclear. A little online research revealed that there are a few bartenders who like to claim credit for the invention of this festive “fiesta in a glass”, but it was born sometime between the 1930s and 1940s. Creating one requires just a few key ingredients; tequila, orange-flavored liqueur and lime juice. Pour it all into a traditional margarita glass with a wedge of lime perched on a salted rim and you are in business. Hand it to me and you’re my new best friend  😀

In short, August 24th will be a fantastic event. Regardless of what brings you here; telework, the mayor, 400+ people to network with or that legendary margarita fountain, it’s a party you won’t want to miss. Register by clicking the link above and raise a glass to summer fun and Teltek’s new office!
