On Friday, we advised that the FBI’s temporary internet solution to circumvent the DNSChanger mayhem would be disconnected today. Click here to read that blog. A detailed explanation of the story can be found on the FBI’s website at this link. The safety net was pulled away at 12:01 a.m. this morning, leaving many users (an estimated 46,000) without the ability to access the internet.
For those of you who find yourself in this situation, call your Internet service provider to let them know you’re having problems. Most likely they will advise you to back up your important files onto an external hard drive, run a scan to remove the virus and then reset your router or modem settings, but call them for the most specific instructions.
