On July 6th, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced the appointment of Chris Tonjes as the new Chief Information Officer in the Mayor’s Office of Information Technology (MOIT).
Mr. Tonjes is presently employed as CIO for the DC Public Library. Among his accomplishments, Tonjes oversaw the creation of the first-ever iPhone app for a library, the DCPL app!
Tonjes will commence his new role on July 23, 2012. His CIO predecessor, Rico Singleton, resigned five months ago following accusations of ethical violations at his former job with the Office for Technology in New York. Deputy Chief Information Officer Robert Minor has been acting director of the MOIT since Singleton’s resignation.
