If you live in a rural location or in an area with a weakened telecom infrastructure, you might have difficulty finding reliable phone service via a land line. With rate plans starting under $10, AT&T’s Wireless Home Phone lets you keep your current phone number and home telephones.
The AT&T Wireless Home Phone provides a home phone calling service using your existing phone equipment. This device allows you to complete calls over AT&T’s wireless network instead of a landline connection.
Set up is easy. Simply plug your existing home phone into the base unit and you’re done. No telephone wall jack required. You can use your home phone anywhere you have a strong cellular signal and available electrical outlet.
The following features are included with the service:
- Call Waiting
- Call Forwarding
- Caller Id (number only)
- 3 Way Calling
- Basic Voicemail
- TTY/TTD compatibility
- 411*, 611, E911
* per use charges apply.
E911 services are supported as they are on any wireless device. There are differences between E911 supported by AT&T Wireless Home Phone and landline phone services. You will need to provide your home address to the emergency response center responsible for sending first responders (e.g., police, medical assistance, or fire) to your location. Also, in case of a power outage you’ll need a home phone that doesn’t require your home’s electrical power to function with the backup battery for all calling including 911. Wireless Home Phone has a backup battery with talk time of up to 3.5 hours.
Unsupported services
AT&T Wireless Home Phone may not be compatible with all services including home security systems, fax machines, dial-up internet service, DVR services, medical alert services (e.g. Life Alert), or credit card machines. The service cannot be used to make 500, 700, 900, 976, 0+ collect, operator assisted, or dial around calls (e.g., 1010-XXXX). It also does not support data or messaging.
