Yesterday, Carrie Green of Teltek was one of the 250 people who attended the Baltimore TechBreakfast Meetup event hosted by DLA Piper LLP at their office in the Mt. Washington Conference Center in Baltimore.
TechBreakfast is a meetup group that organizes monthly morning gatherings that are free of charge to attend thanks to their sponsors. In addition to Baltimore, these early meetups are also hosted in Columbia and Chevy Chase, MD.
It’s an opportunity for developers, designers, entrepreneurs and all kinds of techie-types to interact with each other and hear about a few featured companies via show and tell style presentations. The format is designed to be interactive, so everyone can learn from each other as opposed to passively sitting through a lecture.
The morning began with coffee, bagels and networking and after everyone took a seat, the presentations from Mindgrub, SurveySnap, RenterResume, KnotFriends and Parking Panda began. In addition to these companies, we also got to meet and hear from Chris Tonjes, Baltimore City’s new CIO and the immense challenges he is facing in his new position.
Presentations were entertaining and informative and at the end of each one, the audience was given the opportunity to ask questions of the presenter. In between the three presentation segments, there were 30 second open-mic style “shout out” sessions where attendees could deliver their elevator pitch to the room. Did Teltek get to shout out? You bet!
