Monday started out as any normal week would at Teltek HQ in Westminster. Everyone arrived, got a cup of coffee, chatted briefly about the happenings of the weekend and got to work. Everything was fine until people started to ask “do you smell gas?” Teltek called emergency officials and within a few minutes everyone was forced to evacuate the neighborhood and roads were closed because of a gas leak. BG&E crews moved in to identify, assess and repair the problem. Teltek employees weren’t able to access their office all day.
Fortunately, no one was hurt and the situation was resolved without property damage but a day’s worth of work had been lost . . . or had it?
Teltek practices what they preach and because of their disaster planning, which included the use of cloud based technologies (hosted Exchange for email, virtualized servers and remote access) and Avaya IP Office VOIP, within 15 minutes critical employees were back up and running (albeit from remote locations.)
